Overbet
A bet larger than the size of the pot.
An overbet is a bet bigger than the current pot, for example betting $150 into a $100 pot. It is a high-pressure sizing used with a polarized range: very strong hands going for maximum value, plus some bluffs.
Overbets are powerful against players who are elastic (they fold more as the bet grows) but wasted against sticky calling stations, who pay off a normal bet just as often and let you keep the extra money. Match the sizing to the opponent, not to a formula.
