4-Bet

A re-raise of a 3-bet — the fourth bet in a preflop sequence.

A 4-bet is a re-raise of a 3-bet before the flop. It usually represents a very strong range: premium pairs and big aces for value, plus the occasional bluff against opponents capable of folding.

In most live low-stakes games, 4-bets are heavily weighted toward value because opponents rarely 4-bet bluff. When a passive player suddenly 4-bets, believe it and fold hands that would be fine against a wider range.
