How coordinated or dry the community cards are, which shapes correct bet sizing and strategy.
Board texture describes the character of the community cards: whether they are connected, suited, and paired (wet, or dynamic) or disconnected and rainbow (dry, or static). A board like 9-8-7 with two of a suit is wet, full of straights and flush draws, while K-8-3 rainbow is dry.
Texture drives sizing and frequency. Dry boards favor small, high-frequency bets because few hands want to continue; wet boards favor larger, more selective bets to charge draws. Reading texture first, before layering on a player read, is the foundation of good postflop play.
