Blocker
A card in your hand that reduces the number of strong combinations your opponent can hold.
A blocker is a card you hold that makes it less likely your opponent has certain hands. Holding the ace of spades, for instance, means they cannot have the nut flush — you "block" it.
Blockers matter most in bluffing and hero-calling decisions: bluff more often when you block the hands that would call you, and call more often when you block the hands that would be value-betting. In live low-stakes games, treat blockers as a small tie-breaker, not a substitute for solid reads.
